Hi! My name is Rachel! I am working towards the completion of my Bachelor of Education at York University in the Primary/Junior program. Prior to this, I graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University’s Bachelor of Arts (Honours) program with a major in Sociology and a minor in Religion and Culture. I began working with children of all ages 4-16 as an overnight camp counsellor at the YMCA. Throughout my years there, I learned how to support children with varying learning styles and abilities. As a Leadership Facilitator, I gained valuable experience working with secondary level students. Through my BEd, I have had the opportunity to complete practicum placements in grades 1 and 3 in the York Catholic District School Board. Additionally, I was provided the chance to work one-to-one with grade 2 and 5 students through the Toronto Public Library’s Leading to Reading Program. I was fortunate to be part of the YCDSB’s CODE Summer Program this July, where I worked alongside other teachers to support students in math and literacy. I am passionate about creating a comfortable and inclusive environment in which students can successfully grow and learn.
